The search has begun to find groups, individuals and businesses across Wales who have gone the extra mile to rid our towns, villages and countryside of unpleasant litter and waste.
The prestigious annual Tidy Wales Awards, arranged by Keep Wales Tidy, presented by the Minister for the Environment and Sustainability John Griffiths, and sponsored by Environment Agency Wales, recognises and rewards those who are judged to have made a real effort to restore communities to their former glory.
Not many of the applicants normally seek recognition for the hours of unpaid work they carry out, but Keep Wales Tidy are seeking to highlight their dedication in the hope that many others will be encouraged to follow their excellent example and help us create a clean, safe and tidy Wales.

To accommodate an ever-increasing number of applicants for the awards, the deadline has been extended to mid November, with the awards ceremony being held in January 2012.
The nine category winners will each receive a cash prize of £250 and then battle it out for the glory of being crowned overall winner. The winner will receive the specially-commissioned Tidy Wales Trophy and an additional cheque for £250.
The closing date for entries is 25 November. For a full list of categories, award criteria and application forms, click here.
